Budding Detective

  • Grade 7
  • French
  • Writing

Description

In this activity, students explore the elements of a detective story, as well as the textual organizers and relationship markers that ensure the text's coherence. Students then write a draft of a resolution to a detective story based on a few clues provided, adopting the detective's point of view. During the planning phase, ideas are structured using a graphic organizer, which can be modified or expanded upon throughout the process. When writing, students make judicious use of relationship markers and textual organizers to ensure the logical progression of their crime story.

Learning goals

  • I organize the key elements of my crime story using an appropriate graphic organizer before writing the draft.
